WHAT IS THE SPRAY INJECTION PATCHING PROCESS?

Spray Injection Patching (SIP) is an innovative method for repairing road defects like potholes, cracks, and crazing using specialised machinery. The Roadmaster® stands out with its advanced technology, enabling the entire process to be computer-calibrated and operated via a user-friendly touchscreen system. This not only results in substantial labour cost reductions but also minimises risks to operators and road users while maximising overall productivity.

 THE PROCEDURE

STEP ONE

Remove dust and debris using the high-volume blower.

STEP TWO

Apply a bitumen emulsion tack coat to the repair area.

STEP THREE

High-velocity application of bitumen and aggregate into the repair area.

STEP FOUR

Dress and square off the surface area. Sweep loose chippings onto the repair area using the mechanical brush.

STEP FIVE

Apply dry aggregate to the repair surface.

STEP SIX

Compact the repair area with a rolling wheel, making the road ready for use.

SAFER

Prevention of injuries to road workers is always at the top of every highways engineer’s priority list when planning and carrying out work, as our industry is considered to be one of the highest risk employment categories globally.

FASTER

The Roadmaster® completes the average repair in just a couple of minutes and enables a single operator to carry our hundreds of meters of patching in a single shift.

GREENER

There is no requirement to excavate the existing road surface when carrying out SIP and new material is only mixed at the point of application so there is zero waste.
